How do I choose the right height for a bar stool?
Choosing the right height is essential for comfort and functionality. Most bar stools are suitable for one of two standard heights:
  • Kitchen island / table top height (90 cm): Then choose a bar stool with a seat height of approximately 65 cm.
  • Bar height (110 cm): Then choose a bar stool with a seat height of approximately 75 cm.
Always measure the height of your bar or kitchen top carefully before ordering. Make sure there is approximately 25–30 cm space between the seat and the top, so that you can sit comfortably without bumping your legs. Our Colenis bar stools are available in different heights and we clearly state the exact seat height with each product.
Are Colenis bar stools comfortable for sitting for long periods of time?
Yes, definitely. Although bar stools are often associated with short-term use, at Colenis we have made comfort our main focus. Our bar stools are equipped with:
  • Ergonomic backrests that provide support while sitting
  • Soft, well-padded seats for long-lasting comfort
  • Footrests so that your legs do not hang freely
This makes them suitable not only for a quick breakfast at the kitchen island, but also for long, cozy evenings at the bar or in open-plan kitchens.
Are the bar stools stable and safe to use?
Absolutely. Stability and safety are important parts of our design. Our Colenis bar stools feature:
  • Sturdy metal or wooden bases with anti-slip caps
  • A balanced construction that prevents the stool from wobbling or falling over
  • Models with or without swivel or gas spring function, depending on your preference
Whether you choose a fixed bar stool or a swivel version, you can count on a sturdy piece of seating furniture that will last for years and can withstand intensive use.
Which materials are most suitable for bar stools in the kitchen?
In the kitchen, you want materials that are both beautiful and practical. Our bar stools are available in:
  • Faux leather: Easy to clean, stain resistant and ideal for kitchens
  • Microfiber: Soft and hard-wearing, with a modern look
  • Velvet: Luxurious and comfortable, ideal for an atmospheric dining bar (slightly more susceptible to stains)
For kitchens with a lot of use, we recommend faux leather or microfiber because of their ease of maintenance. All our fabrics are carefully selected for quality, durability and appearance.
Does a bar stool fit in with my interior style?
Yes, indeed! Bar stools are no longer limited to cafés or modern lofts. Thanks to our wide collection at Colenis, there is a suitable stool for every style:
  • Industrial: Bar stools with metal frames and robust fabrics
  • Scandinavian: Minimalist design with light tones and wooden legs
  • Classic / rural: Bar stools with round shapes and soft upholstery
You can choose from different colours, fabrics and heights to ensure that the stool fits perfectly with your kitchen or dining area. And with our mix of comfort and design, a bar stool from Colenis is not only a piece of furniture to sit on, but also a stylish addition to your interior.
How much space should I leave between several bar stools at a kitchen island or bar?
To be able to sit, eat, and stand up comfortably without getting in each other's way, proper spacing is very important. As a rule of thumb, we recommend keeping approx. 60 to 70 cm of space per seat (measured from the center of the seat), with at least 15 to 20 cm of clear space between the seats.

Tips for the ideal layout:
  • Bar stools without armrests: Count on at least 60 cm of width per stool. This is sufficient for a relaxed seat and free movement.
  • Bar stools with armrests or wide shells: Count on approx. 70 cm per seat, so that the chairs do not touch each other when getting in and out.
  • Swivel bar stools: Provide just a little extra space so you can swivel in and out smoothly without hitting the stool next to it.

Measure the total length of your kitchen island or bar carefully to determine how many Colenis bar stools will fit spacious and stylishly.
